Crown Orangeries, Livinrooms and the NEW Skyroom

Warm and cosy in winter, light and airy in summer - Orangeries, Livinrooms & Skyrooms provide all-season living space

View Orangery Gallery >>>

An orangery is a modern alternative to a standard conservatory and is recommended if a permanent extra room is required.  An orangery is an ideal option if considering a kitchen extension, a dining room, a study, a light and airy living room, a room to entertain or perhaps a garden room.

What is an Orangery?

Historically an orangery was a building in the grounds of fashionable residences from the 17th to the 19th century. In England orangeries were typically Georgian in style, examples include Kensington Palace and Kew Gardens.  The term ‘orangery’ reflects the original use of these buildings as a place where citrus trees were often wintered in tubs.

Modern orangeries have a glazed lantern set into a flat roof, bathing the room in natural light.  Although the ceiling height of an orangery is generally only just above the door height, the lantern adds visual height and gives an open spacious feel.  The benefits of an orangery are that it can be an all year usable living space, which due to the brick wall construction, has the added benefit of retaining heat much more effectively than a conservatory, whilst creating a wonderful light and airy space.

This Spring, Crown are delighted to adding to their Orangery range with the Atlas Skyroom - a stunning, elegant orangery that is sleek, slim-lined, and gives you more sky and less roof!

Crown delivers contemporary and classically designed orangeries to suit your lifestyle choices

Recent advances in technology are making orangeries, Livinrooms and Skyrooms extremely popular.  Self- cleaning/solar glass and under-floor heating turns the traditional idea of an orangery into the perfect compromise between a conservatory and a brick extension, and innovative use of bi-folding doors allows you to truly extend your living space into the garden.

Crown will provide guidance and support through every step of the process, from initial site survey and orangery product selection through to installation and completion.  If you haven’t yet visited our Conservatory Showroom in Arborfield, then it is well worth a visit as we have an orangery on display with plenty of brochures detailing the many style options available in the Crown range.  If you need some inspiration, please take a look at our Orangery Image Gallery.

No appointment necessary, but if you would like a chat before you visit, please call 01252 617385 or take advantage of the Crown ‘Request a Call Back’ option.
